You will learn about the value and role of information in professional and social environments, through theory, practice and hands-on sessions with digital media technologies. I will honestly be sad to leave but will take away so many great experiences.” I had so much freedom with my research choices and felt my supervisor respected and supported the direction I chose. Doing my dissertation in DMIS was one of the best decisions I made at university. I especially enjoyed our last ever assignment: producing a multimedia website which allowed me to choose the subject matter myself, and combine both my joint honours subjects.

DMIS offers a good balance of theory and practice which is what I like most about the subject. “The Digital Media & Information Studies (DMIS) staff have always been incredibly friendly and helpful, and after four years of studying DMIS the George Service House almost feels like home. The lecturers and department are also one of the most supportive on campus, going out of their way to ensure that students have the best possible learning experience.” My favourite part of DMIS is the opportunity for the student to be able to focus on their interests and craft their own set of skills through diverse courses. I am now in my final year and have been given the opportunity to help out as Lab Demonstrator for the classes I had taken in first year and it has really come to my attention how diverse and impactful the field is. “Digital Media & Information Studies (DMIS) has been an eye-opening experience for me and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed these past three years. The atmosphere among students has always remained positive even at the most challenging points of study, and this is a credit to the approachable staff who create such a fulfilling environment in which to learn.” Constantly evolving as a subject, the course covers a diverse range of topics and often allows students to focus in on their particular areas of interest in order to improve. “My four years studying Digital Media & Information Studies has been the most rewarding period of my life and has equipped me with a wide variety of skills for the future.
